Half marathon man

By Mark Elson in Athletics

DAVID Price, founder of Lydney Parkrun, is planning to complete 12 half marathons in 2017, to raise money for British Heart Foundation.

David said: “I only started running in 2014, and have run several races. I’ve raised money for local charities, including Great Oaks Hospice last year when I ran my first ever half marathon with my wife Leona Price.

Last year I also started and now oversee Lydney Parkrun, a free five kilometre timed run which begins at 9am every Saturday morning at Lydney Boating Lake.

“The challenge started on January 22, when I took part in the inaugural Farnborough Winter half marathon and completed the course in freezing conditions in a time of 2hrs 9 mins.

“On February 12, I’ll take on the Portsmouth Coastal Half Marathon.  Planned local runs include Gloucester Half and Severn Bridge Half in August and Forest of Dean autumn half marathon in September.

“I have set up a Facebook page www.face

book.com/1year12halfs/ for people to track my progress and find out how I am doing.”
