Promotion battle warms up

Whitehouse Press North Gloucestershire League Division Three

Puma 1-2 Redbrook Rovers

PUMA’S push for promotion suffered a blow but it is far from clear who will be joining Milkwall in Division Two next season.

Curtis Smith and Adam Ward got the goals which kept Redbrook’s slim hopes of promotion alive while the Ruardean side’s substitute, Phillip Brookes, got the only other goal of the game.

Milkwall are already promoted and currently look set for the championship while second-placed Ross Juniors need a couple of wins from their last four games to reach 46 points and make absolutely certain of going up.

Ross have 40 points from 18 games while fifth-placed Puma could finish on 45 if they win their final five games.

Rank Outsiders, who are currently in the third promotion spot, have a potential maximum points haul of 44 while Redbrook, after the win at Puma, could finish the season on 40 points.

Even sixth-placed Mushet and Coalway are not out of the hunt having five games left which could see them finish on 41 points.
