Dan’s hockey honour

By Mark Elson in Hockey

CHEPSTOW teenager Daniel Barclay has been selected to play in a series of hockey internationals over the Easter weekend.

The 15-year-old, who is studying for GCSEs at Chepstow School, will play in three games against Scotland for Wales under-16s at the National Hockey Centre in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

Daniel started playing hockey at the age of 11 and is now part of the men’s team for the Gwent Hockey Club based in Newport.

He has been in training with the Welsh squad for several months and has played on the wing and at centre back and centre wing.

He said: “I’m over the moon, a lot of hard work has paid off.”
