A FLORIST has scooped a top wedding award after being nominated by a bride whose flowers she designed.
Jackie Beard, who runs Jessabel Flowers from a studio at her Cinderford home, won the Gloucestershire Wedding Florist of the Year honour at the Three Counties Wedding Awards.
She was one of five Forest and Wye Valley category winners who will now go head to head for the overall Three Counties titles in October.
Once nominated anonymously by the bride, Jackie had to contact all her wedding clients from 2016 and ask them to fill in a survey which then went to the judges.
From this, regional winners from each county of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire were selected.
She said: “I’m in my seventh year of running Jessabel Flowers and design, arrange and deliver flowers for all occasions, including weddings, funerals, birthdays and anniversaries.
“I have a worldwide customer base, which includes supplying flowers from overseas families to family members in the Forest of Dean.
“I love working with all flowers and am passionate about every piece of work that I produce, from buttonholes to large designs for venues and churches.”
Forest of Dean Chair Covers and Sash Hire in Lydbrook were also honoured, taking the Gloucestershire ‘Best Venue Dresser’ category.
Other regional winners included Penyard House in Weston-under-Penyard near Ross-on-Wye and Clearwell Castle for ‘Best Wedding Venue’, while Simply Stunning Hair and Beauty in Ross-on-Wye took a “Best Hair Stylist” award.
