Boar chase a success

By Mark Elson in Cycling

SOME 845 riders took the revamped Wild Boar Chase challenge and have raised around £16,000 for good causes.

Participants had the choice of four rides: the 43-mile full boar which descends to the River Wye, the Hog which takes in 38 miles of the Forest, the Wood Boar which is 25 miles or the small boar which covers 20 miles.

The event is run by Forest of Dean and Severndean Lions Clubs with the help of the Royal Dean Forest Cycling Club and attracted cyclists from all over the country.

The Chase started at the Speech House and the cyclists were sent on their way by Rojer Phelps, who sounded the post horn gallop, and Libby Jones, Miss Forest of Dean.
