Rain stops play – eventually

PARKEND and Bream managed nearly one and a half innings before the weather finally made play impossible.

The visitors won the toss and put Parkend in to bat with Daniel James, coming in at seven, denied his half century just three runs short.

James’s innings was ended on 47 courtesy of the bowling of Rupert Mitchell who also bowled Paul Franklin for 15 and caught John Ella for four from his own delivery.

Ian Powell also claimed three wickets for Bream, bowling Michael van den Bergh for 17, Andy Stoddart caught by Jamie Blake for 11 and Sam Horton caught and bowled for a single.

Blake also picked up a couple of wickets with opener Jim Crawley caught by Dave Beddis for 25 and Luke Aldridge bowled for 18.

Lee Andrew Brooks bowled Charlie Thomas for a duck and John Deave was run out by Christopher Farr.

Parkend wicket keeper Mark Allan was undefeated when the match was abandoned and also at the crease was Rupert Mitchell on 10.

Andy Stoddart picked up a couple of Bream wickets, bowling opener Christopher Farr for 13 and catching Lee Andrew Brooks for two off his own delivery.

Dave Beddis was caught by Jon Deave off the bowling of Daniel James for a duck and Sam Horton bowled Jamie Blake for one.

Both teams finished the day with 11 points and Bream are now third and Parkend seventh.
