A NEW fun quiz for children and others to discover Chepstow’s history has been launched as part of its castle’s 950th anniversary celebrations.
The Chepstow town trail quiz has 38 questions to answer by following a route marked by arrows.
Copies of the quiz booklet are available from Chepstow Museum, the tourist information centre, the Chepstow Hub (formerly the library) and the castle.
Those who complete the quiz, which is the brainchild of the Chepstow Society, can return to the museum or TIC and claim a commemorative sticker and pencil.
Angela Middleditch, who devised the questions, said: “We hope that by completing this fun town trail quiz, the whole family will have an increased understanding of the town in which they live.”
The route-marked trail will take people to information plaques set in walls and pavements.
The Chepstow Society aims to encourage the preservation and awareness of the town’s historic and natural environment, and will celebrate its own 70th anniversary in 2018.
Chepstow Castle is the UK’s oldest stone castle dating back to 1067, a year after William the Conqueror seized the throne at the Battle of Hastings.
