I WRITE to you on behalf of the PCC of St Michael and All Angels' Church, Mitcheldean in response to your article in last week's Review about the mini-market held every Thursday morning in the church. The mini-market is a long-standing and valued event which provides an enjoyable social occasion as well as much needed funds for the running of the church. The PCC values the time and effort put into it by all it's volunteers. The mini-market will continue every Thursday and everyone is welcome to pop into the church and see what is on offer.

In these difficult financial times, the PCC has looked at all it's fund-raising activities and has identified areas where it feels that making some changes could increase the benefits. At the mini-market, the sale of bric-a-brac raises very little compared with the other stalls.

The PCC has therefore decided to hold a more substantial 'bric-a-brac and jumble sale' on designated Saturdays which, it is hoped will attract a wider interest by being on a Saturday. These events will replace the weekly bric-a-brac stall.

Our current helpers

at the mini-market are just as welcome to help in this new Saturday venture.

Donations of bric-a-brac for Saturday sales will continue to be most welcome and can be collected as usual. Cakes, jams etc, continue for sale on Thursdays as usual. – Michael Heylings, vice-chair of the PCC.
