SINGER and songwriter Tom Browning is putting out his self-penned Help for Heroes song 'Mission One' at this year's 'Parkend's Big Chill' acoustic festival.

The song, which has been put out on CD thanks to sponsorship from Mitcheldean businessman Tom Atkinson, will be performed next Saturday (August 27) at the Fountain Inn.

Last year's Big Chill was a major success, attracting hundreds of visitors, but this year's charity has a really personal touch.

As Tom, from Parkend, told the Review: "I have a friend joining the army so I wanted to write this song to support them and support all the troops out there."

The Fountain's landlady, Michelle Powell, has an equally compelling interest: "My son wants to join the army so we do want to do our bit to support the boys. It's the perfect cause."

A range of acoustic talent from the Forest will be playing at the Big Chill including Harry Jones, Bob Smith and, to round the night off, Sick Note Steve.

Tom Browning's says 'Mission One' was inspired a close friend.
