A YOUNG Newent fashion designer has landed his "dream job" at top fashion house Burberry.
Tom Brindley, who attended Newent Community School and Sixth Form, was invited while he was studying at the Textile Institute in London, to show his portfolio work at the Burberry offices in Westminster where he caught the eye of the creative director.
A week later he was presenting a selection of his designs to a panel of vice-presidents and directors of the company.
As a result he was offered the post as assistant textile designer and began work at the end of August in their London head office.
The 22-year-old said: "I have been very fortunate. The encouragement I have received during my educational journey has played a huge part in my success. During my time at Newent School the interest taken by the teachers and the faith they had in me, particularly the art department, has helped me to get where I am today."
One of the designs Tom produced while he studied Textile Design at Falmouth University, in which he gained a First Class Honours degree, has gone into production as a boys' t-shirt.
He added: "Look out for the Family of Sardines motif."
