THE YOUNGER performers of Chepstow Musical Youth Theatre go "under the sea" this weekend – and tickets for the shows are free.

The junior show features children aged between six and 13 who will have different roles for each day's performance.

The show tells the story of the mermaid Ariel and includes popular songs such as Under the Sea and Part of Your World.

Chepstow Musical Youth Theatre also has a senior section which is preparing for a production of Oklahoma! in March at Chepstow School.

Louise Marsh, director of the senior group, said: "CMYT offers the chance for children and young people to act, sing and dance in professionally-produced shows."

Classes and rehearsals take place every Tuesday and Thursday in term time at Chepstow Baptist Church in Lower Church Street.

The group is also looking for adult volunteers who have experience with sound and light systems.

Performances of The Little Mermaid take place at the Drill Hall, Lower Church Street on Saturday and Sunday (February 18 and 19) at 2.30pm and 7pm.
