HARDLY a tropical idyll or even a match for Weston, poor old Sudbrook Beach is in sore need of a spruce-up.
Now help is being sought to get stuck into the vast amounts of plastic, glass, tyres and other rubbish that have accumulated.
"As well as being unsightly it is dangerous to people and wildlife that make use of this dramatic shore line," says a spokesman for clean-up organisers the Tidy Towns initiative.
Nearby residents have already signed up for a spring beach clean and are calling for volunteers to help. Severn Area Rescue Association and the coastal path wardens are supporting the event, and there will be a barbecue for volunteers on the day.
Helpers can join in at Sudbrook Non-Political Club, Camp Road, Sudbrook on Sunday April 11 at 10am.
As part of 'Tidy Towns' Monmouthshire County Council will be arranging removal of the rubbish collected and equipment and guidance will be provided by Keep Wales Tidy.
Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing for whatever the weather provides. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
