MORE than £2,500 has been donated to two local hospital charities from monies raised at the Chairman’s Charity Dinner and Pride of the Forest Awards.

Chairman of the District Council, Councillor Jane Horne met representatives from the Friends of Lydney Hospital and Friends of Dilke Hospital to present each with a cheque for £1,374.73.

Cllr Horne said: “It has been the greatest pleasure to support two wonderful local charities. The staff and volunteers are fantastic and provide a high level of care to the community.

“I’m very pleased to have been able to raise this money for them both through the help and generosity of everyone at the council and in the community.”

Mary Thurston, Chairman of the Trustees of Friends of Lydney and District Hospital, said: “We are most grateful to Jane for supporting our local hospitals. This donation will be used towards the purchase by the Friends of a new state-of-the-art digital x-ray machine to be installed in Lydney Hospital later this year.”

Bob Young, chairman of Friends of Dilke Hospital, added: “We would like to thank Jane and everyone involved in raising this money, which will allow us to carry on providing hospital support and services in the local community.”
