YOU wouldn't know it and it looks like it's all smiles, but only minutes before this picture, Lydney Rugby Club's star fullback, Brett Turner, was in the midst of a bruising tackle which left his leg horribly snapped in three places.

"But he waved to the crowd as they took him off the pitch," says Lydney RFC's chairman, John Nelmes. "Now that's dedication. That's what we inspire at Lydney."

Mr Nelmes said Brett, from Coalway, had dislocated his ankle, broken his femur in three places and damaged his ligaments. He underwent an operation after last Sunday's match and was released home to recuperate on Tuesday (October 18). See Sports item.
