IT'S a top drop – that's the verdict of James McCrindle of Blakeney, who has just begun marketing his first season's cider and perry from last year's crop.

James' traditional apple and pear drinks are available in pubs and off-licences across the Dean, and already customers are coming back for more.

"These traditional drinks are back in favour, especially all local products," says James, who has invested in some good orchards holding a wide range of cider and perry fruit varieties.

James trained with a local cider-maker and right now he's keeping a watch on this year's stunning blossoms – they hold the key to this autumn's fruit which will ensure the continuing success of McCrindle's cider and perry.

James has just attended a promotional event for local food and drink at Taurus Crafts, Lydney, taking along some of his products of course.

Judging by the reaction it's all going down very well!
