A WRITER to the Review is claiming that the management at Cinderford's Co-op have been making employees write letters opposing Tesco's move to the town.
Tesco plans for a major store in Dockham Road have been strongly opposed by the Co-op, who have created their own alternative proposals for the town.
The letter said: "Management has a list of employees and they are ticked off when they hand in their letters. They even have a list of suggestions of what to write.
"I hope you will follow up this information as I don't think they have a right to make their employees write letters – this is a personal view and should have nothing to do with the fact that they are employed by the Co-op."
Midcounties Cooperative spokesman Lorna Bishop denied the rumours.
She said: "It appears this is a misunderstanding. The management have been informing all members and colleagues about the situation and giving them the opportunity to respond if they wish. Staff are not being made to write letters."
