REGARDING the overcrowding on the trains on August 13, when I saw that the 11.50 had left a lot of people behind (some did get on) I stopped selling tickets for the Cardiff direction. However I did carry on selling tickets in the other direction.
That said, those people remaining all got away by 12.30, admittedly it was a tight squeeze though.
Although I cannot comment on the allocation of trains, it should be bourne in mind that the situation was the same all over South East Wales, there being many towns much larger than Chepstow. When I reported the problem to the Controller he confirmed that every available train was in use.
