A CYCLIST suffered serious back and spine injuries after a late night crash with a car near Minsterworth railway bridge.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the Monday, March 4 collision which happened shortly after 10.05pm on the A48, about half a mile from the Highnam roundabout.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said the crash involved a dark coloured Seat Leon driven by a woman in her 40s, who was travelling towards Westbury and Chepstow, and a pedal bike ridden by a man in his 30s.

The injured man, who was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, was one of two cycling in the same direction as the car when the collision happened.

The driver of the car was not injured and the other cyclist was not involved in the crash.

The spokesperson said: “Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who may have been travelling along the A48 and either seen the collision or the cyclists and car before the collision happened.

“They would particularly like to hear from anyone who has dashcam in their car and may have captured helpful footage.”
