A HEART defibrillator has been installed outside the village shop in Brockweir.

The life-saving piece of kit, which can be used to help somebody who has gone into cardiac arrest, was purchased by community group Brockbeat.

There is already agreement to install another defibrillator at Hewelsfield church.

Hewelsfield and Brockweir parish councillor Stuart Merrett said: “Brockbeat was formed to acquire funding for the maintenance and purchase of defibrillator equipment for the parish.

“We have recently reached agreement to deploy our next unit at Hewelsfield Church, and, in order to achieve this, we are grateful to the British Heart Foundation for their advice and donations both to our project and nationally but also we have received significant financial help from Brockweir Cricket club, Brockweir Moravian Church and, most recently, a generous grant from Resilience wind power systems.”

When the defibrillator is installed at the church there will be seven of the machines in Brockweir, Hewelsfield and St Briavels.”

He said thanks were also due to Alison Macklin of the Hewelsfield and Brockweir village store and Cath Baker of the Hallux podiatry practice in Chepstow.
