I READ with interest every week about the poor old peregrines and pigeons. Maybe you might like to spare a thought for the ducks.
They are purchased as young ducklings, taken to a pond and fed and nurtured for several months. They one day along comes the person who feeds them every day, with a load of other people, the pond is surrounded by the guns, the birds are frightened up off the pond up into the air and then slaughtered.
Can you imagine 500 ducks flying above you trying to land back down onto the pond they know as home? This is known as sport. The people who participate need no skills with a gun, they only have to point it up into the air. You can't help but hit the birds as they are flying above you trying to land. You could be the owner of a white cane and still kill loads of ducks.
Skilful or necessary? I don't think so. – Daffy's mate (name and address supplied).
