YOUNG Lydney singer Ellie Higgs has won a place in the Open Mic finals at the O2 Arena in London on January 21.

The Review of August 26 this year reported Ellie's early success in the regional finals of the national music talent contest.

She sang her way into the big show by impressing the judges at the area finals in Hayes, Middlesex.

Mum Gill Higgs says she is very proud of her daughter's achievements and the family and friends are looking forward to the big day.

The overall winner of the contest will land a coveted recording contract.
