THE main gateway to and from the Forest from the A48 at Elton Corner will be closed next week for road repairs.

Highway crews say the work on the A4151 will take place between Monday and Wednesday (November 16) from 9.30am to 3.30pm. The road will remain open at evenings and over the weekend.

The road closure will be in place from the junction with the A48 at Elton Corner to the junction for Elton Farm. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and emergency vehicles.

The diversion from the north will be via the A40, the A4136, the A4151, the B4227 Forest Vale Road, the B4226 St Whites Road and the A4151 Elton Road.

The diversion from the south will be via the A48 and then Lydney High Street, the B4234 Forest Road, Fancy Road, Speech House Road, the B4226 Cinderford Road and the A4151 Elton Road.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: "Each day we’ll start our repair work after the morning rush hour, and finish before the evening rush hour, so that commuter traffic won’t be delayed too much. I’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while we get the road improvements done."
