FAMILIES are invited to step into the deep dark wood this October half term, as Forestry England partners with Macmillan Children’s Books to celebrate the launch of Gruffalo Granny, the brand-new story from the creators of The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

Visitors can enjoy a free Welcome to Storytime with Gruffalo Granny event at Beechenhurst on Monday, October 26, featuring storytelling sessions, family activities and special appearances from the Gruffalo himself.

The event will give families the chance to bring the newest Gruffalo adventure to life through interactive storytelling and take part in a range of themed activities based on the brand-new story. They can also meet the Gruffalo, who will be making a special guest appearance.

With October half term falling at one of the most colourful times of year, families can also make the most of their forest visit by exploring the changing autumn colours, spotting fallen leaves and enjoying the sights and sounds of the season.

Throughout the day, families can enjoy Gruffalo Granny storytelling sessions, meet-and-greet opportunities with the Gruffalo and activity booklets designed to help children continue the adventure.

Copies of Gruffalo Granny by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler will also be available to purchase at participating events.

Forestry England said it is delighted to be partnering with Macmillan Children’s Books to celebrate the brand-new story, coming 22 years after the publication of The Gruffalo’s Child. Forestry England sites have a long history with the Gruffalo and other Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler characters, thanks to a long standing and successful partnership with Magic Light.

Booking is not required, as storytelling sessions and meet-and-greets operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to Beechenhurst, as sessions may become busy.
