A FAMILIAR face will be behind the post office counter at Sling Post Office when it re-opens next Monday.
The new subpostmistress, Brenda Nash, worked in the old post office for 18 years and is delighted to be restoring the service to the community.
"I decided to apply to run the post office when I realised what a loss it would be not to have one in the village. I thoroughly enjoyed working in the old post office and I know the local community will be glad to see a familiar face behind the counter," said Brenda.
The post office, which will be located at The Laurels, Sling, will be open for business between 9am and 12.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from 9am until 1pm on Wednesdays.
Customers will be able to carry out the usual range of services including pension and benefit payments, banking services, postal facilities as well as accepting payment for household bills, such as electricity, gas and water accounts.
Steve Draper, retail network manager for Post Office Counters, said: "We are naturally very pleased to be re-opening Sling Post Office as we know what a vital lifeline post offices are to places like Sling. The village has been without a post office for nearly three months and we are grateful to Brenda for restoring the service to the community."
