THERE was a good turnout at the Elton Carp Lakes annual charity match.
Around £155 was raised in total as local anglers took part in a fishing match in memory of Patrick Joseph Lee as well as his daughter, Maria, who died due to complications of bowel cancer surgery in 2013.
The event was run in aid of Sepsis Trust, which campaigns on the way in which the health service deals with sepsis – a life-threatening condition that arises when the body's response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs.
Andy Reidwith was this year's individual winner with a total of 115lb 10oz, followed in second place by Sam Prosser with a total weight of 112lb, and Mark Wellington in third with a total weight of 64lb 13oz.
The section winners were Mark Wellington in section one (64lb 13oz), section two Sam Prosser with 112lb, section three was Andy Reid (115lb 10oz), section four was Craig Cox (59lb 2oz). This year's team winners were C14's Crusaders who had a combined weight of 234lb 12oz.
Sam Prosser claimed second prize along with anglers Craig Cox (59lb 2oz), Jamie Smith (57lb 5oz) and James Williams (6lb 5oz). The team win was very closely followed by Iffers Goldenboys with a total weight of 232lb 6oz.
Chris's daughter, Gina Gardner said: "A really lovely day was had by all, and a great total was raised for the Sepsis Trust charity. A massive thank you to all those who donated on the day, and who took part in this year's annual charity match. We do hope to hold a similar event during the early months of 2015 to celebrate a year since introducing our leader boards, so we hope we can repeat this success!"
