AYLBURTON celebrated its annual Flower and Vegetable Show last Saturday in the village hall, attracting a host of entries for the 62 different classes that the judges had set.
As ever, the show entries contained attractive floral displays, a wide range of vegetables, and examples of home produce.
The baking competition this year featured a fruit cake recipe for adults to compete in, while the children were encouraged to try their hand at making chocolate brownies.
After the evening prize-giving in The Cross there was an auction of most of the exhibits with the money raised going towards providing the flower tubs throughout the village.
THE date for the 2016 Aylburton Carnival is Saturday July 9.
As usual, it will start with the procession through the village and will continue on the field with the usual stalls, teas, fun and games. The floats will leave the Taurus Crafts car park at 2pm and the walkers will join them at Millbrook Green.
Prizes for the best floats are £200, (The Bledisloe Challenge Cup), £100, and £75, and all other entries will receive £30. There are also prizes for walking entries.
A new carnival committee will be planning and organising the 2016 carnival. The committee has hall trustees Sheila Berryman, David Greaves, Lesley Lindley, John Ridley and Jeanie Williams, and the chairman Mark Sargeant.
Anyone who would like to help with the 2016 carnival planning and organisation is encouraged to contact the hall secretary.
