A RESIDENTS’ survey aims to establish what people in a Forest town feel about life there and the changes it is undergoing.

The Life in Lydney survey created by Lydney Hub is the first of its kind, and is running until this Friday (November 30).

Hub secretary, Emily Pettiford, said: “We are keen to capture the public’s perception of Lydney, hoping that it will provide local insight on issues, opinions and lifestyles.

“In recent years, market town Lydney has given the go ahead to a number of exciting new housing developments, with the most recent seeing more than 250 new homes being given the green light.

“However, what do the people who live in Lydney think about the growing population? How has it affected their lifestyles, and what do they think works well or could be improved?

“And how different is ‘quality of life’ in the different areas and neighbourhoods?”

Lydney Hub was formed in 2017 by a group of residents who decided to come together to tackle some of the issues that are currently facing the town as its population expands.

Emily added: “Brought together by a shared love of Lydney, concerned residents started Lydney Hub with the aim of enhancing the local community, continuing to make it a safe and welcoming place to live as well as improving access to services and amenities in the town as the population continues to grow.

“In the past year, Lydney Hub has taken several actions in order to achieve this goal including forming a foundation committee, as well as recruiting a dedicated fundraiser and youth leader.”

The survey includes questions about perceptions of crime and public safety, public transport, healthcare and amenities for children and young people.

The group has continued to recruit new volunteers at their monthly meetings and invites anyone who would like to help to attend one of their meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at the Severn View Pub at 7.30pm.
