RUSH-HOUR traffic was diverted from the main route into Cinderford last Thursday (February 11) after a suspected hit and run.
Police closed Bellevue Road for four hours after reports of a Renault Scenic colliding with a blue Nissan Micra outside St Stephen’s Church before mounting the kerb and driving off at 6.05pm.
A woman driving the Nissan Micra was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with a back injury.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: “Police later located a car they believed could be the (Scenic) car and a 65-year-old man believed to be the driver. He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with a head injury and has been released from hospital where he is recuperating with his family.”
A motorist travelling from Gloucester said police were diverting cars down Flaxley Street.
