A MITCHELDEAN couple who set themselves the challenge of walking 90 miles in 90 days have crossed the finishing line.

Jean and Clint Mann set themselves a target of raising £900 for Great Oaks Hospice in memory of Jean’s mum Doreen.

They set out on Wednesday, May 5 – exactly one year after Doreen died aged 90.

Jean said: “Doreen had been living with us and during her last days she was given fantastic care by the nurses and staff of Great Oaks Dean Forest Hospice.

“We wanted to do something for them in her honour which would show our appreciation.”

They passed the 90-mile mark on the 87th day when they trekked to the summit of May Hill earlier this

month.

Clint said: “It may not sound like much but, come rain or shine, we have been out and about two or three days a week each week and have put ourselves and our boots through their paces.

“We are so grateful to all our supporters, including the staff and customers at the White Horese in Mitcheldean.

“They helped us 40 per cent of the way.”

Details of the 30 walks are on Clint’s Facebook page and to support the fund-raising efforts search clinton-man at www.justgiving.com
