I refer to Cllr Gethyn J Davies of Forest of Dean District Council's letter, regarding the Severn bridge tolls (Review 6/1/12). It is time for us to take this issue seriously instead of shrugging our shoulders and paying the outrageous tolls we have been subject to over umpteen years.

I have tackled Mark Harper MP on previous occasions through letters to the Review on bridge tolls without any success. MP's, remember, can claim travel expenses back, so such charges do not hit their pockets as noticeably as it does their constituents.

As Cllr Davies has articulated, let us at least try to approach the issue in a positive manner.

Perhaps we could obtain reduced tolls for those living in Wales and the Forest. I know that those who are residents on Isle of Wight have, for many, many years, enjoyed much reduced ferry crossing fares with WightLink Ferries.

Surely something can be done about this issue? So, come on councillors, at least meet together to discuss this.
