ALTHOUGH they wish it were true Chepstow Cricket Club have not actually won the lottery!

Instead they have "won" a lottery grant towards fantastic new practice nets at the Mathern Road, Bulwark site.

The successful club, who are currently second in the prestigious South Wales Division 1, have recently built three brand new Astroturf net wickets with the help of grants from both the lottery and the Lord Taverners Association.

Club chairman Robert Hopkins is very pleased with the project.

"We needed this facility badly," he said. "We currently run two successful under-11s and under-13s and other junior sides at under-15 and under-19 level. We also run three Saturday XIs and a Sunday friendly side so the nets will be pretty busy!

"The nets will be the envy of every club in the area and should enhance the development and progress of cricketers young and old in the Chepstow area. As a community club we hope that local schools in the area will wish to use these facilities on a regular basis."
