MAY I through your Letters page express my thanks to all those who made Saturday night, November 30, at Lydney so memorable?

There are too many to name individually but special mention should be given to:

Musical Futures Orchestra, although small in number they were remarkable – a true credit to their organisation,

Alan Thompson who provided the transport for the celebrity at short notice.

Not only did he provide the transport but went to the trouble of ensuring it was duly decorated in a suitable fashion.

The Riverside church and other choirs that turned out to lead the assembled company in carol singing.

To the celebrity Will Sharma who not only switched on the brand new Christmas lights but also sang for us, and Cadet Petty Officer Tiffany Cooksly who presented Will with a gift on behalf of the community.

The family Rudge for providing cover in case of inclement weather and to Mr Walter Owen for doing most of the organising of the event.

Last but by no means least the people of Lydney who turned out to make this such a very special occasion. You should all be justly proud of yourselves.

Very well done Lydney. It just shows what can be done when we all work together.

– Bill Osborne, Lydney.
