SILENCE is golden...and it is certainly that for Mrs Maud Potter of Berry Hill who is turning keeping quiet into cash this Saturday.

Mrs Potter, aged 92, is being sponsored not to talk at Berry Hill Hut as part of a fund raising coffee morning being organised by Mrs Pat Day and her husband Les to boost the Colbalt Appeal Fund.

Mrs Potter has already been promised £90 and is looking for more sponsorship from local people who are all invited to turn up for a coffee between 10 am and midday.

Mrs Potter, who is chairman of the Hall committee, will take a seat in the corner and not say a thing for two hours.

And while her silent sit-in is hopefully making money, visitors can buy from a cake stall and take part in a draw.

"It is a very good cause and we have already had promises from several people. What we hope now is that locals will turn out to make it a really successful event," said Les.
