AVERIL Sumners, in her recent  letter, is absolutely right.  The money paid out in salaries and expenses by the EU is scandalous.

Unfortunately,  in her zeal to point the finger at Neil and Glenys Kinnock,  she  forgot to mention Nigel Farage.    It has been  estimated  that he has pocketed over £7 million  in salary and expenses as a  MEP  since 2009,  albeit with  very poor attendance at his place of work.

I have to take my hat off to him. This must be some kind of a  record in the annals of milking the system.

It took the Kinnocks a lot longer  to accumulate that  kind of money,  and there  are two of them.

They  may not have  Nigel's skill with an expense sheet, but at least they turn up for work.

Mr Farage has called for MPs at Westminster to be granted a 30 per cent pay rise.

This may be because he is expecting to win a seat there  at the next election.

If successful he would have to give up his seat in Europe and would not want  to  receive a pay cut.

All this  is proof  that, far from being the new  Messiah in British politics, Farage is no different from all the other politicians with their snouts in the trough.
