I WAS pleased to see your article in the Review about the 'Welcome Home Fund' certificate given to servicemen returning from the Second World War.

I also have one. I am almost 92. I saw service in North Africa against Rommel, the landing in Sicily, Italy and Anzio beachhead where I was wounded on the breakout.

After service in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon the regiment was sent to Belgium and saw the last action in Germany, joining with the Russians.

Your paper is sent regularly to my son who lives in Japan where he is a language teacher.
