CHEPSTOW building society staff have raised funds for St David’s Hospice Care (SDHC) to buy iPads for patients.
Rebecca Lane and Nicola Lambert, customer service assistants at Coventry Building Society in Chepstow, both took part in the Kolor Dash at Newport’s Tredegar Park last month. They raised £380 through sponsorship from customers in the branch and the Coventry matched the amount raised.
Rebecca said: “We all enjoyed supporting St David’s Hospice Care even if it meant getting plastered in psychedelic powder paint at the Kolor Dash which, in reality, was great fun. It’s good to know that what we do is so greatly appreciated by St David’s Hospice Care which provides such marvellous care throughout our community.”
Gemma Carter, of SDHC, said: “This money was added to funds the branch had already raised to buy the iPads. They are a fantastic dual-purpose resource for the hospice as they provide entertainment and are also very valuable in helping us overcome any language barriers that we may encounter.
“The devices are being used by patients at the day hospice and also as a vital translation tool for those patients and their families who do not speak English.”
