I WRITE in response to Mr Jackson's letter about The Palace Cinema.
I am sorry Mr and Mrs Jackson did not enjoy their evening. If they had said something, we would have been happy to refund their admission so that they could come on a quieter night.
With respect to Mr Jackson, I think his comments abut Cinderford's young people are completely over the top. I am sure that no-one in our audience on Friday night had any bad intentions. The fact is that "The Mummy Returns" is the first good all round adventure film for the 12 to 18 age group which has come out for several months, and the first night was bound to attract a lively, albeit good natured audience.
With regard to the increase in admission prices (now £3.50 in the evening), this has nothing to do with cleaning costs. It is purely due to the fact that now that we are showing current release films, we have to pay a higher percentage of our box office in hiring charges.
I am dismayed that Mr Jackson's remarks may have given your readers a completely false impression of our safe, well run family cinema, and I can honestly say that I have never had a cross word with any of our younger patrons, who are bound to be excited on the rare occasions when we are able to offer them a superb action film. – Mark Cunningham, The Palace Theatre, Cinderford.
