YEAR 11 girls and boys across the Forest scrubbed up well to celebrate their end of year school prom.

Among those who brought plenty of colour to a bleak June evening were Dean Academy in Lydney who attended the Chase Hotel in Ross-on-Wye.

Head of Year 11, Mr Adam Stradling organised the event. He said: “Both students and staff had an amazing evening at The Chase, it was a really successful event enjoyed by all. We wish our Year 11 leavers a final farewell and we would like to wish them all the success for the future.”

The prom king and queen were Derry Burgum-Palama and Jodie Manley.

Meanwhile Dene Magna pupil Alex Clayson arrived at his prom in style – on a John Deere tractor owned by Sam Awre from Awre.

His grandmother, Christine Robinson said: “Unfortunately, as he was the first to arrive, nobody saw him make his entrance.”

Characters from Star Wars visited Lakers School’s prom this year at the Speech House Hotel.

Through tireless fundraising the prom committee raised £1,200 which was donated to Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Care.

Elaine Clarke at Lakers said: “I would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s prom another success. Students, staff, parents and carers all came together to provide a truly memorable evening. I would also like to thank the community for their support with our fundraising efforts.”
