RANDOM bouquets of flowers were donated to various people on Friday all in aid of putting a smile on their faces.

The heart-warming act was carried out by Lydney and Severnside Flower Club who dropped in a 'Lonely Bouquet' of pink roses and chrysanthemums to the Review, as well as other places in the town, as part of National Flower Arranging Day.

The bouquet was one of 60,000 distributed across the UK to celebrate the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies' (NAFAS) emerald anniversary.

Chairman of the club, Marion Martin said: "The reason we have National Flower Arranging Day is to promote the existence of the flower clubs and floral arts societies in the area. We hope that it will lead to people taking an interest in the art and coming along to their nearest club to find out what goes on and eventually joining us.

"Several Lydney and Severnside Flower Club members have placed flowers in various locations from Chepstow to Mitcheldean this year and we hope those who received them enjoy them! There is no catch - we just want others to get the same enjoyment of beautiful flowers that we do!"

The next meeting is on May 12 at Lydney Town Hall at 6.30pm.

The kind gesture certainly brightened our day in the office.
