THE first of a number of celebrations has been held for Val Pittaway, head teacher of Coalway Community Infant School, who retires at the end of the summer term.
Some 150 guests attended the event, a tribute to Val's popularity.
She has been head teacher at the school for 14 years and was presented with a 25-year service award by Gloucestershire Education Authority for her outstanding contribution to teaching.
A very popular figure in the Coalway community, she will be missed by families and colleagues alike.
The new head teacher is to be Mrs Fiona Hamilton, who takes over from September 1.
