THE Dean Academy in Lydney went back to the Middle Ages for its summer fair as part of its transition programme for new students starting in September.

Giant catapults, archery, apple bobbing, alchemy and a climbing tower were just some of the fun activities on offer following a medieval-themed week of lessons and workshops for the Year Six children.

Mrs Alison Ball, the primary transition leader, who organised the event, said: “The summer fair is a great opportunity for parents and children to meet with teachers at the academy in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

“We have already had lots of positive feedback about the event, it was a fantastic evening and everyone enjoyed themselves. We look forward to welcoming the children here in September.”
