GREAT Western Ambulance Service, which covers the Forest, says it intends to work with the South West Ambulance Service with the intention of creating a single ambulance trust.

Earlier this year the service, which employs 1,680 staff across 33 sites including 30 ambulance stations, announced it did not think it was viable to continue standing alone and would be looking to form a partnership.

Work to explore the creation of a single ambulance trust for the whole of the South West will now continue until October 2012.
