AFTER a contractor strimmed a neighbour's orchard last week, two adders appeared at the end of my garden. They seem to have been disturbed from their nest in a corner covered in dead leaves and long grasses.
The female returned through the wire but the male, being much larger, became stuck in the chicken wire. I tried to help by cutting a hole through the wire but as he was very aggressive I kept my distance!
The warmer weather is bringing adders out sunbathing in the heat. Please be careful and dog walkers especially, watch out, as I'd hate to hear of dogs (or their owners) getting bitten! – Peter Colley, Brierley, nr Drybrook.
