A WOMAN has undergone surgery after an attack by two dogs caused significant injuries to her arm as well as bite wounds on her body, say Gloucestershire Police.

She had been delivering parcels to the Malswick area on Saturday (August 30) and had to get back into her van for safety.

The attack by the Cane Corso dogs happened as she tried to make a delivery but it is understood the owner was out at the time.

Cane Corsos are a mastiff-type dog which can weigh up to 50kgs.

The local area is understood to be popular with dog walkers and investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, or from anyone who has any information relating to any previous incidents involving the two dogs.

The woman, aged in her 30s, managed to call police and was able to get inside her vehicle for safety while she waited for help to arrive.

The woman was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by paramedics and she remains there for further surgery and treatment.

Officers attended and a police dog handler secured the dogs behind the gates.

The owner was then contacted and both dogs were seized.

A man was arrested on suspicion of having dogs dangerously out of control and has since been released on police bail while an investigation continues.
