THE rugby union stronghold of Lydney will play host to the 13-man game tonight, (Wednesday), when the Gloucestershire-based All Golds come to town for their Kingstone Press Championship match.
The match is a pre-cursor to an official partnership between Lydney and the University of Gloucestershire side.
All Golds president, Lionel Hurst said: "Lydney folk and those who live in the region are very knowledgeable when it comes to the sport of rugby.
"The All Golds match will appeal to them as the standard is very high. The All Golds currently ply their trade in Championship One which is just two leagues below famous clubs such as Wigan, St Helens, Leeds Rhinos, Bradford Bulls and Warrington Wolves."
The team is also keen to hear from any descendants of 'Mad' Arthur Smith, a Forester who played for Yorkley and Cinderford and was selected for the Great Britain side that played the New Zealand All Golds rugby league tourists in 1908.
Tonight's game is at Regentsholme at 7.30pm.
