CAMPAIGNERS fighting to bring Asda to Cinderford held a fun day on Sunday raising £200 for charity and gathering 300 signatures on a petition.

Dozens of locals packed into the car park at the Oaklands in Cinderford to enjoy a day of family fun entertainment which included stalls, face painting, a bouncy castle, snacks and a rodeo.

Cinderford town mayor, Max Coburn also joined in the fun as he came along to support the day.

The event comes as planners met on Tuesday and approved a planning application by Asda in Cinderford.

The Forest Council's planning committee received a report on Asda's application for a supermarket off Steam Mills Road.

Yet, the plans for Sainsbury's in Lydney remain up in the air following a late submission of "new" information last month, which the council is still looking at. It is hoped that the plans will be discussed at the planning committee meeting next month.
