I AM 13 years old, and I have lived in the Forest of Dean since I was born. I think that the culling of the Forest sheep was absolutely horrendous. The Forest will never be the same again without the free-grazing sheep and the delight of seeing the new, young, bouncy lambs playing in the sunshine.
No-one knows what they are doing. They said by culling the Forest sheep, it would help stop foot and mouth spreading, but in my opinion it hasn't worked at all. We still have had lots of foot and mouth outbreaks.
In some places they are burning the animals, in other places they are burying them. They just have not got a clue what they are doing.
I think it's OK to kill animals with foot and mouth as long as it is done properly (sheep – a bolt in the head, lambs – a lethal injection) but as regards to killing animals without foot and mouth just for a precaution, I don't agree with it and I think it is terrible. – Jenny Hurcomb, Wood-edge Road, Milkwall, Coleford.
