IT WAS the day after Halloween, which raised the spirits for everyone at The Old Ferry Inn, Beachley, and raised a magnificent £1,100 for children's cancer charity CLIC at the same time.

"We had a fantastic time – it was really good," said entertainer Sue Rivers, who supplied 60s-style music with her singer husband Kevin, while mine hosts Linda and Murray Hunt manned the tombola and raffle and conducted a super sale of goods donated by local firms and individuals.

"Because it just happened to fall on that date we had a Halloween theme. People came from all over the Forest and supported us. It was a tremendous effort.

"We would all like

to thank everyone who gave goods and time

to the event and

everyone who came along to support it."

The cheque was handed over at a special ceremony at the inn.
