VEHICLES spanning almost a century of motoring were proudly displayed in a small Wye Valley village for a classic car and bike show.

The event is traditionally held every two years at the Penallt Cricket Club but concerns about damaging the pitch following a rain-soaked summer meant it was switched to the nearby Moorcroft House.

The 150 owners were happy to explain how long they had owned their vehicles and the amount of work it took to restore them.

Judge Richard Burtt-Jones said: "We are not experts but we do have a love of cars and this is an outstanding field of entries.

"We had a hard choice in deciding what was best in show but in the end it was a Sunbeam Dawn, with the addition of a child's pedal car on the back, which was an added delight.

"The range of bikes was equally amazing with the best in show going to a 1965 cream coloured Velocette.

"And we couldn't have asked for better weather."

The show's oldest vehicle was a American car, a 1915 Grant owned by Alan Sutton.
