THE fruits of the labour of members of the Drybrook Allotment and Leisure Gardeners Society have been rewarded.

Landlords of the allotment site in Morse Road in Drybrook, Steve Meek and Fawn Bennett, were on-hand to present winners with vouchers in the annual prize-giving.

Winners of the best kept plot competition were split into the total number of plots.

For the single plot category, Jill Trotman won first prize, with Mike and Siobhan Wilks as runners-up. The double plot category was won by Ian and Sharon Boundy with Ali and Helen Thackway runners-up. Dave and Sue Scrivens won the multiple plot competition with Dave Ridler as runner-up.

Society Chair, Martyn Jennings said: “It was great to see so many tenants and guests at the barbecue, and the weather was kind to us again. Congratulations to all of our tenants for a great growing season.”

It has been a highly successful year for the society with improvements to the site, and also an increase in the number of tenants. Additionally, the society has been instrumental in the organisation and success of the annual open show at the Ruardean Carnival in August.
